Frequently Asked Questions
How do I package my flowers for shipping?
The best way to package the bouquet is to place the stems of the bouquet into a small box that has a hole cut out the size of the stems, this will allow the bouquet to stand up right inside of a bigger box. You can also add some slightly damp paper towel around ONLY the end of the stems covered by plastic wrap (ONLY on the end of the stems) to give the flowers a little water during shipping. Fill any extra space gently but fairly tightly with newspaper, tissue paper, packing peanuts or some other soft breathable filler to prevent shifting during shipping. DO NOT cover the flowers in plastic.
How far in advanced should I book?
I recommend booking as soon as you have a wedding date and decide you would like your flowers preserved. I can only take a limited number of bouquets each week, and during the busy season these spots can fill up quickly.
I don’t live near you, how do I get my flowers to you?
I recommend using FedEx Overnight shipping. From experience this is the best option.
Can you include things other than flowers in my piece?
For sure! I can include jewelry, brooches, broken glass, ribbon, sand, shells, invitations, photos, etc. If you are wondering if something else will work send me an email!
How long does the process take until I receive my finished artwork?
I work on commissioned artwork in the order of which I received the flowers. Each order will take a different amount of time depending on many factors such as number of items in the order & size of those pieces as well as the specific items selected as some items take more labor than others. Currently for special occasion preservation from weddings or funerals, I have an average of an 2 month turnaround time. However, I do not give estimates or guarantee completion dates as issues can easily occur with resin even though we as professionals perform every step perfectly. Resin is an unforgiving medium but fixing issues such as dust on top coats can take time and the finished timeline is unpredictable. Feel free to reach out for updates on our timeline but please be kind as I work hard with care and attention to detail to create your custom keepsakes at the highest quality possible.
How long will my resin artwork last?
Provided you take care of your resin artwork, it should last a lifetime. I use a hard curing resin which results in a glass like finish that is scratch resistant. Our resin has built in UV protection to prevent your flowers from fading and slow the yellowing of the resin over time. All resin will eventually begin to yellow but you can prolong the life of your artwork by keeping it out of direct sunlight & away from high heat sources.
Will my flowers change colour?
Yes, your flowers will change colours during the drying process. The extent that they change, depends on a number of factors. Not all white flowers will stay white, many varieties will turn ivory or if pressed, may turn beige. Lighter coloured flowers are more likely to show bruising once in resin. Mid range colours tend to stay very similar to the original shade but deep reds and purples will become much darker or in some cases turn bright pink if pressed. I love this part of the process!
Do you work with already dried flowers?
Yes! Since they are already dry, we can't press them but I can use them in any of our 3D molds.
My event already happened, will you take my flowers?
I accept flowers up to 3 days after the event if I have availability. I need time to feed the flowers and bring them back to their peak (as much as possible) before drying.
I wasn't able to preserve my flowers, should I just buy new ones?
Yes! Contact your florist to have a mini bouquet remade and bring or ship them to me directly for drying.
